Natural position is the role printed on a Build A Basketball Team card — the job that player expects to play for chemistry to work. Bloxive Studios uses standard basketball abbreviations PG, SG, SF, PF, and C on most offers, sometimes with hybrid text such as wing or combo guard during Early Beta experiments. The five starting slots

Build A Basketball Team lineups use five starters aligned to basketball roles:

Point guard (PG)

Point guard cards list PG or point guard on the face. They belong in the PG slot for chemistry. PG is the most sensitive mis-slot in beta reports — putting a natural SG at PG often triggers penalties that also block clean SG fixes.

PG rerolls are S-priority on Position Priority. If your draft offers a high OVR wing at PG, decline or reroll unless patch notes add dual-position tags.

Shooting guard (SG)

Shooting guard cards list SG or shooting guard. They fit the SG slot. Combo guards who handle the ball may still list SG if their primary label says so; trust the card text over real-life highlight reels.

SG is B-priority for rerolls once PG and frontcourt roles are legal. Accept Rare SG starters during Starter Build if chemistry works.

Small forward (SF)

Small forward cards list SF, small forward, or wing. They belong on the wing slot between guards and bigs. Hybrid players often land here when their natural position says SF even if they can score like a guard in real basketball.

Leaving SF empty while stacking guards is a common path to sub-90 OVR. Fill SF before you chase Shiny and MVP Tier Guide guard variants.

Power forward (PF)

Power forward cards list PF or power forward. They play the four spot — frontcourt but not always the primary rim protector. Some PF profiles can temporarily hold C in desperate drafts, but verify team OVR after insertion.

PF pairs with C in Chemistry Builds frontcourt slide swaps when bigs are mis-slotted.

Center (C)

Center cards list C or center. They anchor the five. Guards and shooting guards offered when you need C are reroll fodder unless you enjoy chemistry penalties.

C is A-priority alongside SF on Position Priority. Best Lineups templates often require Epic+ centers for 95+ OVR bands.

Hybrid labels during Early Beta

Bloxive may test flexible wording — wing, forward, guard, combo guard — before formal dual-position support. When hybrid text appears:

1. Identify the primary natural position line.
2. Test assignments in both plausible slots using swaps from Chemistry.
3. Keep the assignment with higher team OVR.
4. Document ambiguous cards for future patch notes on Updates.

Until dual-position is official, assume one primary role per card.

Natural position versus lineup strategy

Real basketball allows positionless lineups; Build A Basketball Team during beta still rewards classic five-role structure. Strategy implications:

• Draft for labels, not for YouTube highlight positions.
• Swap before reroll when two starters have inverted roles.
