Build A Basketball Team Lineup Planner
Model five-man OVR and chemistry in your browser — then spend rerolls and refreshes with a plan.
The Lineup Planner helps you answer one question before every reroll: “Does this slot deserve a consumable, or should I fix chemistry first?” Build A Basketball Team calculates team OVR from individual card ratings and how cleanly each player fits their natural position. Two rosters with similar talent can land several OVR points apart when one owner respects chemistry and another chases shiny MVP cards off-role.
This page teaches the strategy behind the tool. Scroll to the interactive planner below the article to enter cards, toggle position matches, and compare swaps. The widget runs entirely in your browser — no Roblox login, no data upload, no automation.
How to use the on-page planner
When the client component loads beneath this guide, follow this workflow:
- Enter five slots — Typically point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center (labels may mirror in-game role names).
- Type each card’s OVR — Use the number shown on the card face in your current draft or collection screen.
- Mark natural position — Toggle or checkbox whether the card’s printed role matches the slot. Correct fits apply chemistry bonuses in the model; mismatches apply penalties consistent with Chemistry rules.
- Read team OVR — The planner sums slot values with chemistry adjustments to approximate your displayed lineup rating.
- Swap hypothetically — Exchange two slots or bump one OVR to simulate a reroll outcome before you spend the real reroll.
- Reset and iterate — Try “fix chemistry only” versus “upgrade weakest OVR” and see which path moves team OVR more.
The UI is a what-if sandbox. Results are estimates for planning; the live game may round differently or apply patch-specific tuning. Re-check inside Roblox before you finalize a squad you care about.
OVR planning principles
Team OVR beats solo card OVR. A 92-rated shooting guard in the wrong slot can hurt the aggregate more than an 88-rated card in the correct role. When the planner shows a small solo upgrade but flat team OVR, the pull is a trap — save the reroll.
Fix the lowest chemistry leak first. Identify mismatched slots in the tool, then swap internally (if the game allows) before rolling. Internal swaps cost zero rerolls; see swap patterns in Chemistry.
Chase ceiling at the weakest correct slot. Once chemistry is stable, reroll the slot with the lowest OVR where the natural position already matches. That maximizes expected team gains per reroll.
MVP and shiny variants need position proof. Enter their OVR in the planner only if the natural position toggle stays green in the target slot. A shiny mis-slot often loses to a plain correct fit in the model — matching what players report in live drafts.
Chemistry planning in the tool
Chemistry is not a separate meter you grind; it emerges from role alignment. In the planner:
- All five green — Your baseline team OVR should approach the sum of card talent minus small rounding. This is the state you want before chasing 95+ individual cards.
- One red slot — Fix it before refreshing the whole pool. A single mismatch drags the total disproportionately in Early Beta math.
- Two red slots — Consider a refresh if rerolls cannot fix both without breaking links. Pair with How to Play refresh timing notes.
- Swap simulation — If moving your center to power forward and your forward to center raises team OVR without new cards, do that in-game first.

Reroll versus refresh decisions
Use the planner to separate two problems:
| Problem | Symptom in planner | Likely action in-game |
|---|---|---|
| Bad card in one slot | One OVR outlier, chemistry mostly green | Single reroll on that slot |
| Wrong positions everywhere | Multiple red chemistry flags | Swaps first, then targeted rerolls |
| Weak pool overall | Every slot mediocre even with green chemistry | Refresh, then reroll best fit |
| Chasing MVP variant | High solo OVR, red chemistry in desired slot | Do not force; reroll a different slot or wait |
Fund these actions with Codes — tuff, thx, and Update — and quest tab rewards from Quests. The planner does not replace those income sources; it helps you spend them deliberately.
Example planning session
Suppose your planner input looks like this before changes:
- PG 89 (green), SG 91 (green), SF 94 (red — natural SG), PF 87 (green), C 90 (green).
Team OVR lags because the 94 is off-role. Simulating a swap with your 91 SG might show +3 team OVR without spending rerolls. If no swap works, reroll the SF slot after you note acceptable OVR floors from Players. Only if all five slots are green yet team OVR stalls do you refresh for a new pool.
Run that logic every session and you will outpace players who reroll randomly while ignoring chemistry — no scripts required. See Scripts for why automation is not a verified option in Early Beta.
Tool limits and honesty
- Estimates only — Patch tuning can change chemistry weights; verify in the live client.
- No live inventory sync — You type numbers manually; we do not read your Roblox account.
- No auto-roll — For exploit safety, use Guides and codes instead of unverified injectors.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where is the interactive lineup planner on this page?
The client component renders below this article. Enter five slots, set OVR values, mark natural positions, and read the estimated team OVR before you spend rerolls in-game.
Does the planner connect to Roblox or auto-roll cards?
No. It is a manual what-if tool in your browser. You type stats yourself; nothing is injected or automated in the live game.
Should I fix chemistry or chase higher OVR first?
Fix chemistry leaks first. The planner usually shows bigger team OVR gains from correct positions than from one high card placed off-role.
How do I decide between a reroll and a refresh?
If one slot is weak but chemistry is mostly green, reroll that slot. If many slots are mediocre with green chemistry, simulate a refresh by resetting your planning inputs and comparing totals.
Are planner results exact compared to in-game OVR?
They are close estimates for decision-making. Early Beta patches can tweak formulas; always confirm the final lineup inside Roblox before you treat a squad as finished.
