Build A Basketball Team Rerolls and Refreshes Explained
The two free resources that decide every draft — when to reroll a card, when to refresh the pool, and how codes refill both.
Rerolls and Refreshes are the two consumables that keep Build A Basketball Team moving after your first lucky pulls. Promo codes, quest claims, and squad completion rewards all feed these counters. Confusing them is the most expensive Early Beta mistake: players refresh when a single card was the problem, or burn twenty rerolls inside a dead team/year pool that needed a reset instead.
This guide isolates both tools so you can spend tuff, thx, and Update with intent. Pair it with Controls for button placement and How to Play for the full draft loop.
What a Reroll does
A Reroll replaces the current player card offer while you stay in the same draft context. The wider selection pool — teams, years, eras, or player groups depending on the step — stays intact. You are fishing for a better draw at this exact decision point.
Use a Reroll when:
- The offered card’s natural position does not match the slot you still need.
- The card is clearly below your keep threshold for that role (see Tier List).
- You are hunting an MVP or shiny variant at a specific upgradeable slot (How to Get MVP).
- Chemistry swaps cannot salvage the offer without moving another starter off-role.
Stop rerolling when:
- Two consecutive rerolls fail to beat your incumbent at the same natural position.
- A correct-role Epic or Legendary appears even without shiny borders — bank it and finish the squad.
- Your Reroll counter is near zero and you still have incomplete slots — finish for quest payouts instead of going broke mid-draft.
What a Refresh does
A Refresh resets the broader selection pool: teams, years, and player selections you are choosing from. It does not magically upgrade one ugly offer; it changes the slice of the card database feeding your next choices.
Use a Refresh when:
- The pool keeps feeding duplicates into slots you already chemistry-maxed.
- Commons dominate several consecutive steps and upgrade odds feel dead.
- You are rebuilding toward a Build Hub template that needs a different franchise or era mix.
- You finished a squad and want a clean chase run rather than slot-hunting in an exhausted pool.
Do not Refresh when:
- One offer is weak but the pool still contains viable correct-role upgrades — that is a Reroll.
- You have not finished chemistry swaps on your current five — a new pool does not fix mis-slotted starters.
- You are emotional after one bad pull — wait one beat, re-read the natural position, then decide.
Side-by-side decision table
| Situation | Spend | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong position on this offer | Reroll | Pool may still be fine |
| Low OVR at a key role you still need | Reroll | Targeted fishing |
| Pool is duplicate-heavy | Refresh | Context is the bug |
| Entire era/team mix cannot feed your template | Refresh | Need a new slice |
| Shiny off-role appears | Swap audit first | Neither button if chemistry swap fixes OVR |
| Inventory empty mid-squad | Finish squad | Claim quests before more spending |
How July 2026 codes fund each tool
Redeem from the Codes button on the right side of the lobby. Strings are case-sensitive.
| Code | Rerolls | Refreshes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
thx | 20 | 10 | Reroll-heavy slot hunting |
tuff | 15 | 10 | Balanced early sessions |
Update | 10 | 15 | Refresh-heavy rebuilds |

Stack quest claims from Quests in the same login so you never enter a chase session with empty counters.
Session recipes
New player session: Redeem all three codes → claim quests → finish one chemistry-clean squad with light rerolls only → save most refreshes for session two.
Slot upgrade session: Spend thx/tuff rerolls only at the weakest chemistry-clean slot identified after Chemistry swaps. Stop after two fails.
Rebuild session: Spend Update refreshes after locking a Starter Build or Best Lineups template on paper. Reroll only once the new pool can feed the missing role.
Leaderboard push: Follow stop rules in Leaderboard — resource discipline beats volume past the mid-90s.
Common myths
“Refresh raises drop rates.” No. It changes which cards can appear, not server-side rarity odds.
“Reroll always beats refresh.” False when the pool itself is sterile. Burning twenty rerolls in a dead pool wastes thx.
“Codes change MVP odds.” Codes give more attempts. They do not rewrite drop tables. See How to Get MVP.
“Scripts can farm free rerolls.” No verified public scripts exist for this title — Scripts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the difference between a Reroll and a Refresh in Build A Basketball Team?
A Reroll replaces the current player card offer. A Refresh resets the broader team, year, and player selection pool so the next choices come from a different slice of the database.
Which July 2026 code is best for Refreshes?
Update grants 15 Refreshes and 10 Rerolls — the refresh-heavy bundle. thx and tuff are more reroll-weighted. Redeem all three from the lobby Codes button.
Should I Refresh after one bad card?
Usually no. One weak offer is a Reroll problem. Refresh when the whole pool feels duplicate-heavy or cannot feed the position you still need.
Do Rerolls and Refreshes expire in my inventory?
Inventory counters persist across sessions unless a balance patch changes them. Promo codes that grant them can expire — redeem codes on login even if you play later.
